They were just neighbors. Life simply happened to put my parents next door to them all those years ago. They were in completely different stages of life, but somehow it never mattered. There was just enough there to connect them, and that connection slowly became one of the most important relationships in all of our lives.

Then I came along. Somewhere over the years, neighbors became best friends. Best friends became godparents. But really, they became so much more than that. They became part of our family in the truest sense.

There honestly aren’t words big enough for what they meant to my parents, to me and my siblings, and eventually to my own family too. Some people come into your life and quietly become part of the foundation of it. They were those people for us.

These photos are almost 18 years old and fuzzy, but they are some of my most treasured things. They hold the kind of love, friendship, and history that lasts generations. Looking at them feels like looking at home. 🤍
