This rain is treacherous!
Update - 5:38 pm, May 25, 2018 - as of this afternoon, the repairs are complete and the road is reopened.
Update - 6:31 pm, May 22, 2018– The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) closed a section of MD 450 (Defense Highway) between A and Eagle Boulevard and Windermere Court in Anne Arundel County this morning due to a sinkhole. The work will include excavation and the replacement of two 5-foot diameter pipes under the roadway.
“Crews will work throughout the day and night to expedite repairs,” stated MDOT SHA District 5 Engineer Corren Johnson. “The road will be closed for up to two weeks. Both lanes will be closed 24 hours a day, allowing contractors to complete these emergency road repairs.”
Westbound MD 450 drivers will be directed to a detour route which includes Housley Road to MD 178 to Crownsville Road and back to MD 450.
Eastbound MD 450 drivers will use Crownsville Road to MD 178 to Housley Road and back to MD 450.

State Highway Administration says they are mobilizing on the repair work which may take "a few days" to complete. Please make alternate arrangements.
