I have to admit…this girl makes me a little nervous. She’s a big girl, and horses aren’t fluffy dogs. 🐴🐕
For the last six months, I’ve been around her while preparing my farm listing. At first, she turned away and stayed close to Cindy Lou. But slowly, she began giving me the time of day. Carrots definitely helped! 🥕🥕
Then one day, when it was just the two of us, she leaned her big head into my shoulder and stayed there. It didn’t last long—but it happened. ♥️
When you connect with a horse, you can’t really explain it. It just is.
My mission has been to find her a good home, and I’m excited because I think I have. Her new momma felt the connection long before I did. She doesn’t have a big, fancy place—but she has what truly matters: a soft heart, a deep commitment to her horses, and an old farm filled with charm and love. 🐎
For me, this feels like a full-circle moment.
Between the ages of 10 and 13, I practically lived with a family who had horses. We lived in an apartment, but my mom would drop me off there for days at a time. Riding and staying up late preparing for horse shows became my whole world.
Then they moved to California, and I never rode again.
Now I’m 60-plus, and the yearning for the smell of horses has never left me. Maybe part of me was afraid to love them again because I couldn’t bear another broken heart.
Then this farm—and this old girl—came along.
I didn’t mean to love her so much, but I guess God had other plans. She may be entering her last chapter, and I’ll gladly take the job of helping make it a good one—for as long as it lasts. 💐
Thanks for listening to just another one of my stories. ♥️
