As of this week, I’m officially back as a full-time real estate agent! After stepping away from the public side of real estate to focus on referrals and working as a full-time marketing and leasing manager for a Baltimore-based property management firm, I’m ready to dive back in. That role taught me so much about the intricacies of real estate, particularly in Baltimore City, but it also reaffirmed my true passion: helping people buy and sell homes.

So, here I am—back on the market, so to speak! If my car can get there (and trust me, my capable four-wheel drive can handle it), I can help you buy or sell it. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience and knowledge I’ve gained and excited to put it to work as I return to full-time real estate sales.

Property Tax Relief for Active Military

Maryland also honors disabled military personnel and their surviving spouses. With the passage of HB 76/SB 700, which took effect June 1, 2020, for tax years beginning after June 30, 2020, tax credits are available to disabled military personnel and their surviving spouses even when:

• They're not retired (may be retired, active duty, or honorably discharged).

• They haven't lived in the property for 40 years (a requirement under the old law).

It's up to each local government to set eligibility requirements for the credit, but:

• It may not exceed 20% of the total tax.

• It may not be granted for longer than five years.

I’m doing some continuing education classes and I just found this out! Since it’s so close to Memorial Day, I figured I’d make a post about it.

Disabled Veteran Property Tax Relief

With the passage of HB 257 /SB 417, which became effective June 1, 2020 for tax years beginning June 30, 2020, county and municipal governments may grant tax credits against property taxes imposed by that county or municipality for disabled veterans and their spouses. The tax credit can be granted for veterans with at least a 50% service-related disability.
Veterans who qualify must submit appropriate documentation for their disability.

Per. HB 257, a qualifying disabled veteran is one who:

• Has been honorably discharged from active military, naval, or air service

• Has been declared by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to Have a service-related

* disability of at least 50% (e.g., blindness) that is: Reasonably certain to be a permanent disability

• Was not caused by misconduct of the veteran

• Had an adjusted gross income for the immediately preceding taxable year equal to or less than $100,000
