September 11, 2001—a day I will never forget. 🇺🇸

I was only 12 years old, sitting in my seventh-grade history class. My sister was still in high school, and we were both able to check out that day. I remember the ride home and how afraid I felt of the unknown. As a child, I couldn’t fully understand what had happened or what it would mean for our country.

I have always loved everything patriotic, even as a little girl, but September 11 awakened something deeper in me. Even at 12 years old, it made me stand a little taller and feel truly proud to be an American.

Today, we remember the innocent lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, the families forever changed, and the bravery shown in the days that followed.

May we always honor their lives and never forget. 🇺🇸
