I come from a long line of basket-obsessed women, so maybe the need to weave one is just inherently in me. My Aunt amassed a whole @$$ garage@ full to the ceiling. I was equally impressed and terrified to see my potential future 😂
Before I fully committed to buying pounds of willow from Living Willow Farms in Ohio, I started with a berry basket kit from My Own 2 Hands. It came with the perfect amount of willow, a really well-thought-out guided video, and a pair of well made cutters.
I soaked the willow rods for 5 days, then got to work in the greenhouse surrounded by curious chickens
This little basket took me a few hours, and I already know it won’t be my last.
And now I have a new favorite smell…damp willow.
It smells like rain in a field. Earthy, rooty, and exactly what you’d expect.
Sooooo..10lbs of willow arrived today. 😂 I’m about to bundle it up and soak it in the lake.
