Such a cool train-🚂. Running right by the front deck.

Cumbres, Colorado, is the highest point on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. In the early days of the C&TS, Cumbres looked different than today.

The snowsheds were larger, and the buildings were still in the derelict state from the D&RGW’s abandonment. Today, only one section of the snowshed remains, and several structures like the Section House and the Car Inspector’s House have been restored by the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.

Fingers crossed we need the moisture.

Here is our current thoughts about the incoming snow - overall not much change. Heavy, wet snow is still expected to start impacting the region this afternoon and evening, and persist into Wednesday. Expect hazardous travel in and near the mountains, and possible power outages and tree damage due to snow loading.

The NEW Cabin is on Airbnb. Go check it out and get your night reserved. We have hosted a few groups already this year and the reviews have been great!! Perfect for a smaller group up to 4. We will be updating pics the first of next week but this will give you a first look.
