Solar panels - ugh! What sounded like a good idea can cause problems on a sale. Did you know:
-❓leased solar panels may not be able to get paid off unles it is during a sale (so buyer cannot pay them off in the future or buy out the lease)
❓-leased panels sometimes have a 20 year term and at the end - YOU STILL OWE MONEY to buy them out
❓-most lenders will not allow buyers to assume a solar panel loan - it would put the lender in second position. The loan has to be paid off!

Read this article for more information. Research your solar panel agreement before selling. Discuss with your agent and make a plan for your options.

Sellers should determine whether solar panels are owned, financed or leased and address payoff or transfer terms before entering a sales contract.
