🍓🍓CR39/Old Welcome Strawberry fields update🍓🍓

The proposed Strawberry Fields project on CR 39 is continuing to move forward and we need your voices.

The original application sought a change to Future Land Use. A hearing was scheduled with the BOCC on April 9, but it was continued. Since then, the applicant has submitted a new application that expands the request to include rezoning additional folios.

This proposal now covers approximately 160 acres, with a planned density of 1 home per acre.

There is some good news:
The Planning Commission voted that the initial future land use change is NOT consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.

Next steps:

A hearing with the Zoning Hearing Master

Followed by a final decision by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)

Once we have confirmed dates, we will share them immediately.

In the meantime, we need action from the community.

Please contact the BOCC and make your voice heard:

Clearly state that this proposal is inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and does not reflect the wishes of the community.

If you previously wrote a letter, write again about the new zoning application.

We are the ones who live here.
We understand the rural character of this area better than outside consultants.

If you’re tired of decisions being influenced by people who don’t live here, now is the time to speak up.

Let’s make sure the BOCC hears directly from the community.
