I Woke Up Empty

This morning I awoke to silence,
not the silence of a sleeping room,
but the silence of a mind
that could not find its own footsteps.

The memories were still somewhere,
like books resting on forgotten shelves,
yet none stepped forward to greet me,
none whispered, “Here you are.”

My plans had vanished with the night,
every destination erased from the map.
No yesterdays.
No tomorrows.
Only a strange and endless now.

I sat with the emptiness,
wondering if I had become a ghost
walking through the halls of my own life,
searching for familiar doors.

Yet in that vacant space,
a small truth remained:
I was still breathing.
I was still here.

Perhaps the soul sometimes grows quiet,
setting down its burdens for a moment,
asking us to stand still long enough
to hear the sound of our own existence.

And so I waited.

Slowly, like dawn touching the horizon,
the world began to return—
a name,
a memory,
a hope,
a prayer.

Not all at once,
but enough.

Enough to remember
that even when the mind feels empty,
the heart still knows the way home.

This feeling is both eerie and profound. Sometimes the quietest mornings leave the deepest questions behind. ❤️🙏🏻
