This amazing woman closed on her new home on Tuesday! She moved here from Nevada last year to be closer to her grandbabies and we found her a house just 15 minutes away.

Bridget, I'm so glad we met, you make me laugh and touring homes with you was so much fun. I'll go into all the nooks and creepy basements and weird crawl spaces as long as you are there with your hilarious commentary! 😆 Congrats on your new home, the dogs will love the yard and I can't wait to see what you do with the space!

The home buying process ain't cheap, y'all. Yes, you can buy a home with as little as $1000 down thanks to down payment assistance programs. But there are other things that come up with the process.

Below is why I chose these 5 Things Worth The Money:

1. A home inspection. It's good to know what you are walking into. They tell you about the home, the health and safety items that you may want to get taken care of and the items that could wait.

2. A good realtor. (Ahem, that's me.) I don't get paid unless I get you to the closing table. I work very hard and often late into that night for my clients. I want you to get the house just as much as I want to get paid.

3. Having an emergency cash fund is wise in general. But when buying a home, it's just extra cushion for any little things that may come up.

4. A locksmith to change all your locks in your new home. As a kid, I remember so many people had keys to my house; both nextdoor neighbors, my grandparents, a few of my mom's friends, and probably more. When you buy a house who knows how many keys the former owner gave out! Best to start fresh with new security for you.

5. I've moved several times and when I finally paid for movers, I will never not use movers again. Moving is stressful, let's make the actual move part of it as easy as possible and pay the professionals. (Plus, you do hit an age where no pizza and beer is worth the effort of moving your friends.)

Thinking about starting the home buying process? Let's chat, friend!

This wonderful family closed on a brand new home on Monday! I have known Brian since I was 18 and in college. We were in theatre together, bonded over Broadway musicals and costume parties. (I think I have some photos involving A LOT of glitter somewhere 😉) We've been a part of each other's lives for almost 30 years.

When Brian contacted me to help him find a home where he and his parents could live together but separate, I was thrilled to help them through the process. Brian knew what he wanted, we toured many new construction homes, but like many families, Mom knows best. When they walked into this one, Joan lit up; this was THEE house. We put in an offer during the Parade of Homes, and we're very lucky the builder accepted it during that high traffic time. A few months later, it was closing day!

Thank you Brian for your trust, your friendship and so many congratulations on your new home with your parents. May it be filled with love and joy for years to come!

Another first-time homebuyer!
I met Lauren two years ago at the Twin Cities Pride festival when I was participating as a vendor. She took my card, we stayed in touch, looked at properties last fall and she decided to wait until she was closer to the end of her lease. This Spring we put in an offer on this home and initially didn't get it. 😕 BUT two days later the agent called saying the original buyer didn't work out and was my buyer still interested! YES she was!

She has the cutest plans for this home, cozy and full of things that bring her joy. My favorite? A bookcase that hides a door so you have to open a book to get to the doorknob!❤ Congratulations, Lauren! I can't wait for some updates from you on your home. Thank you for allowing me to guide you through this process.
