Three Tips to Protect Yourself in the Economic Downturn
In the sea of opinions, you have probably heard everything from, the economy is in a little slump and on its way back to, we are on the eve of destruction and it’s going to be a blood bath.

Just for review, we are experiencing the federal step in with the FED raising the interest rate of what they sell funds to the banks for, as a result of the massive dollars distributed in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Government give aways are not paid for by those making the distribution they are paid for by the American people.

I have lived through three recessions and although I have no predictions on the final impact or when it will actually take place, I do know three key points for you to focus on to help you maneuver through.

1- Watch inflation, not where it is but the difference between where it is and the goal of the FED which is 2%. This will give you and indication of their rate adjustments yet to come which again impacts the cost to banks who are borrowing money which is then in turn passed on to the consumer in their cost of borrowing to buy a car, a tv, or a house.

2- Have a household debt evaluation to make adjustments on the nice but not necessary. This will allow you to keep the budget in an achievable mode.

3- Have cash reserves. This will buffer you should you experience a job set back, or if you have rental property and a tenant doesn’t pay on time or moves out. Hand in hand with having reserves …don’t distribute it all out, don’t spend it all.

In A Nutshell . . .
Check in to get a comparison of payments in March and payments now to see your advantage in locking in your purchase now before the next rate increase.

First Time Buyers

Traditionally, many young people put off buying a house until they start thinking about getting married. But these days, as marriage rates are falling and young people are getting married later in life, they’re starting to think about buying a house first, while they are still independent. They’re realizing it’s a long-term investment, much like a stock investment that earns compounding interest. They realize that either the home will increase in value or their equity will increase over time—or both. Either way, they’re seeing a home purchase as a smart long-term investment, whether they’re getting married or not.

This past Spring and Summer, many young homebuyers found themselves competing against too many well-positioned other buyers. Right now, we are seeing a slight shift in some neighborhoods that allows younger buyers to hop back into the market.

If you or someone you know is in their twenties and considering a first home purchase, now is a good time to look. I can help create a buying plan that fits income and lifestyle, so a young person can buy a home that will be a great long-term investment. Then I’ll find the right home to match! 🏡

What makes a direct lender different from others is that they use their own money to fund mortgages.

Direct lenders include banks, credit unions, and major lending companies like Quicken Loans.

The mortgage process can be complex and confusing, so being able to communicate directly with your loan officer to ask questions or make requests can be comforting. Without a middleman, you can skip broker fees and you won’t second guess whether your broker’s commission goals impacted their lender recommendations.

However, when working with a direct lender, your options are limited to the lender’s own products. So there are some disadvantages to working with one to keep in mind.
