A family I worked with years ago was sure there was only one option: sell the house fast, move Dad into assisted living, and get it all handled before the holidays.

Once we sat down and actually walked through it — his health, his finances, what he wanted, what the siblings could realistically manage — the picture looked different. Dad ended up staying in the home for another two years with some in-home support, and the family used that time to plan the next step together instead of scrambling through it.

Every family's situation is different. Some families do need to sell quickly. Some don't need to sell at all. The point isn't the outcome — it's that nobody should be making this decision from a place of panic, without seeing the whole picture first.

That's the part of this work I missed. It's why I'm back.

When people first call me, most of them think there are only two choices: Mom stays, or Mom sells and moves to senior living.

There are actually more paths than that, and which one is right depends entirely on your family — not on a formula:

→ Staying, with support. Sometimes a few changes and the right resources are enough.
→ Downsizing. A smaller, easier home — sometimes still independent, sometimes with a bit more built-in support.
→ Senior living. A range of options depending on what's actually needed, not what's assumed.
→ Selling the home. Traditional listing, an as-is sale, or an investor offer — depending on timeline, condition, and what the family needs the sale to accomplish.
