I welcome clients at all stages of life, but there is something so special about first time home buyers. Maybe it’s the excitement, the nerves, the realization that this huge dream is actually becoming real for them… but getting to walk people through such a life-changing milestone never gets old to me.

Thinking of taking the leap and buying your first home? Save this before you start scrolling Zillow 🏡👇

Buying your first home is exciting but it can also get overwhelming fast if you don’t know the game. Here are some real-life DO’s and DON’Ts:

✨ DO:
• Get pre-approved BEFORE you fall in love with a house
• Budget for more than just the mortgage (think taxes insurance and maintenance 👀)
• Ask questions!!! There is no such thing as “dumb” in this process
• Work with someone who actually explains things not just pushes you through

🚫 DON’T:
• Open new credit cards or make big purchases before closing (not even that couch you’ve been eyeballing)
• Skip inspections to “win” a deal (that can cost you WAY more later)
• Drain your savings completely for the down payment
• Assume the asking price is the final price

The goal isn’t just to buy a home, it’s to afford it comfortably after you move in. I tell my buyers I don’t want to get you in a home you’re in love with, but will be miserable with after you move in because you’re stressed about bills. I’m all about finding the perfect fit.

This area is seriously underrated right now.

There are homes hitting the market left and right + new builds wrapping up almost daily, which means buyers actually have plenty of OPTIONS (we love to see it 👏🏼).

And let’s talk about location for a second…
