Urge NO on AB 736
Dear valued AAR members,
Today you received a Red Alert from CAR asking you to contact your legislators and urge a NO vote on AB 736, a transfer tax bill currently moving through the California Legislature that could significantly increase the taxes homeowners pay when they sell their homes. This issue matters to every homeowner in California, not just to our industry.
AB 736 would allow local governments to increase transfer taxes on home sales far beyond what most Californians pay today. For example, for a home that sold for $900,000, the tax could increase from roughly $1,000 today to as much as $13,500 or even $27,000 in some cases.
For many homeowners, that money would come directly out of the equity they have worked for years to build. Whether you're planning to buy, sell or remain in your home for years to come, policies like AB 736 that increase housing costs will affect all Californians.
Please respond to the Red Alert here and share this message your fellow Realtors®, clients and community members so they understand what is at stake and can make their voices heard to oppose AB 736.
