I still remember the day you were born here in the United States like it was yesterday. That moment changed my life forever, and no matter where life takes us, that memory will always live inside me. Through these 17 years, life has taken us through many roads, many countries, many changes, and many emotions. Last night was one of those nights that reminds me why MUSIC, art and storytelling matter so much. ⚡️🎞️🎶

Attending the screening of Let It Die Here at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre and meeting Linda Perry was more than just a cool Hollywood moment. It was a reminder that vulnerability is not weakness… it’s where real art comes from.

Watching her documentary made me revisit emotions that many of us try to suppress: pain, transformation, forgiveness, identity, loneliness, resilience and the courage to tell the truth about our lives without hiding behind a mask.

There was something powerful about seeing someone who has written songs for generations of people openly talk about the weight of life, creativity, healing and self-acceptance. Over the last few years I’ve seen LINDA PERRY’S glow and presence evolve, but after watching LET IT DIE HERE, I truly understood where that light comes from. Sometimes the glow comes after surviving your own darkness.

As artists, creators, musicians or simply human beings trying to figure life out, we all carry chapters that hurt. The documentary felt like permission to acknowledge those chapters without shame and also a reminder that healing doesn’t always come from forgetting… sometimes it comes from expressing. ✨

Today I can wake up and say, “Today is your birthday… Happy Birthday to you.” 🎂✨

But what does it really mean to me?

For the last 26 years, it has meant light, purpose, and direction. ✨

A beginning, a compass that has guided my life since that April 27th. 🧭

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how blessed I am not just to be your father, but to witness the woman you’ve become. 🤍

A woman with both light and shadows with strength, kindness, and depth ..Someone who moves through life with empathy, collaboration, focus, and integrity never compromising who you are.

You give, you care, you show up expecting nothing in return. That’s you. ✨

I find myself smiling often, remembering all the chapters we’ve lived together the laughter, the lessons, even the challenges that shaped us and made our bond stronger since you were little. 🌿

Being your father has been my greatest accomplishment and it always will be. 🙏

Today, and every day, I thank life for you.

Here I am… Oaxaca, México 🇲🇽
Celebrating my 48th birthday 🎂✨

The first time I ever heard the name Oaxaca was about 20 years ago, when I had just arrived in the U.S., working at a coffee shop. A co-worker from here mentioned it and something about the name stayed with me. It intrigued me. Over the years, I kept learning more, but I never imagined I’d one day be here… celebrating me.

Because that’s what this day is about.
It’s my duty to celebrate myself. 🫡
To appreciate a life that has been… anything but ordinary.

Light and darkness. 🌗
Wins and losses.
Growth, breakdowns, and everything in between.

These last 18 months, I’ve leaned into experiences like this traveling, exploring, stepping into the unknown. It’s been part of a deeper journey…

Finding that kid again, the one who trusted his intuition without hesitation and meeting the man I’ve becomethe one who now understands things that 10,20, 30 years ago… he simply couldn’t.

Somewhere in México, during a course I took at Aguanegra, I came across a quote that stayed with me:

“Porque la oscuridad restaura lo que la luz no puede reparar.”
“Because darkness restores what light cannot repair.” 🖤✨

We’re all afraid of our darkness.
But it takes real courage to face it… to accept it… and to integrate it with the light we all carry.

At 48, I can say this:
Darkness, solitude, and silence are no longer things I run from they’re becoming part of my habitat. 🌑

One day at a time.

And yeah I’m not doing it alone.
I’ve got my companion with me …my Teddy Bear AKA Hugo Sánchez 🧸 but that’s a whole different story.

TEOTIHUACAN. 🇲🇽🐍
Life is too fragile …and too Beautiful ✨

How often do we mistake a detour for a problem, when it may be grace in disguise?

How often do we dismiss coincidence, when it may be something asking to be noticed?

Yesterday , what began as a visit to Teotihuacan became something much deeper.

My Uber driver didn’t show up .
A cash only gate.
An artisan 65 year old lady who paid my entrance when I couldn’t due to no internet at the gate .

I helped her carry her items to main entrance .
I bought some items from her .
She delayed my path by nearly an hour.
She told me “ God put us together “

Later, the site shut down after a tragic act of violence and what it seemed to be a bumpy day full of delays…

Those interruptions changed my route.
They changed my timing.
They kept me from reaching a part of the site I had intended to visit.

And then came one more strange turn…

Back in Ciudad de México, sitting at a bar in Condesa that same evening, I ended up next to a random woman who had also been at Teotihuacan that day just earlier than me.🤔

Out of millions of people in this city we ran into each other and shared the same experience.

And I can’t stop thinking…

Life is fragile.
Life is beautiful.
And sometimes the smallest interruptions carry the biggest meaning. ✨🐍🖤
