Come catcha glimpse of the Tufted Puffin circus at Haystack Rock this Sunday morning!

Our partners, Friends of Haystack Rock, will have spotting scopes, binoculars and knowledgeable volunteers to point you in the right direction.

This is the second to last Puffin Watch of the season, as the circus will be vacating their summer home in the coming weeks for a winter on the open seas.

Wow!

This hefty and extravagant Opalescent Nudibranch was spotted by staffer Zoë O’Toole. It was a big one, perhaps three inches long—about topping the scales of Nudibranchs found at Haystack Rock.

Of course, there were some teeny-tiny little Opie’s to be found as well—a reminder to always look close and survey slowly, using our “tidepool eyes.”

More fun stuff to find on the beach!

Have you ever found a *whole* Crystal Jelly?

During the big seas we’ve seen plenty of Crystal Jelly fragments washed up on the beach. But during a recent shift Angela found this beauty, totally intact.

Unlike Sea Nettles, Crystal Jellies are safe to touch.

How to tell? Crystal Jellies are translucent, with no pigment and—crucially—they have no tentacles, or nematocysts.
