If you are a Buyer wanting to buy a home requiring a loan, here are some tips on the process:

1 Prepare your finances. Avoid taking out any new loans or opening credit cards before or especially during the lending process.

2 Get pre-qualified. This will give you a sense of what you can afford in as little a 5 minutes. You are only guessing without it! Ask your Realtor to give you 3 local lenders for you to choose from. Shop around for the best rate.

3 Get pre-approved. Be prepared to provide tax return information, work history, a good credit score, etc. A lender will verify your information and provide a Verified Pre-approval letter. Have your pre-approval letter. BEFORE you go house hunting! Your Realtor, your Seller, everyone will understand you are ready to buy a house and it will strengthen your offer!

4 Apply for a mortgage. This is the big one. Your lender will help you complete and submit a loan application once your offer is accepted.

5 Close on the home. The final step in the process where everything becomes official. You’re now a homeowner!
