📊 Market & Mortgage Update

According to this week's update from MBS Highway, several key economic indicators continue to impact the housing and mortgage markets:

✅ Inflation remains a focus. While core inflation has cooled to its lowest level in more than five years, rising energy costs are keeping pressure on overall prices.

✅ A Fed rate hike is still possible. Current expectations suggest the Federal Reserve could raise its benchmark rate at its September meeting, which can influence borrowing costs throughout the economy.

✅ Existing home sales declined for the third straight month. Higher mortgage rates continue to affect buyer activity, although home sales are still running slightly ahead of last year's pace.

✅ Housing inventory is growing. More homes are coming onto the market, giving buyers additional options compared to recent years.

✅ The job market remains mixed. New unemployment claims stay relatively low, but some job seekers are taking longer to find new opportunities.

🏡 What does this mean for buyers and sellers? Real estate remains highly local, and opportunities still exist on both sides of the market. As inventory grows and economic conditions evolve, having a knowledgeable real estate and mortgage team is more important than ever.
