Overcast – not very cold. 1 caller
Wednesday, January 8, 1902

Up at 7 – Lamps – fed kits – dusted rooms,
made beds – mended – wrote to Cousin
Jim & Susie Watson & in here – & read
a bit & some solitaire as usual –
Read in P.M. rested & dressed & went
to farm about 4 – Aunt G. nicely –
Mrs Barker & Mrs. Prescott called &
about 4-30 I went over town with
Aunt Sue. Aunt Sarah in a moment in
P.M. to ask me up to play preference
in eve – Down to V’s, but she was
out – Mrs D. & Agnes there. Met V.
up town & did errands – pictures at
Litchfield’s & home about six, & a Talk
a moment – Had to change boots in
eve & went to Ann & Sarah’s at 7 – Mrs.
Sterling – Mrs Whitcomb – Aunt L & I
played – Only 2 games we lost so
much – Mrs. S. & I won both. We were all
quite hilarious. Mrs. W. provided candy & water &
Ann & Sarah – crackers & cheese Jolly time –
Left for home about 10-25 – In bed
about 11-30. Read paper – Gott [?] & P. Winn
& Kimball here playing cards – Pop-corn & oranges

Nina Winn’s Diary – January 7, 1902

Overcast – _warm.
Tuesday, January 7, 1902
Snow PM & eve
Up at 7 – Lamps – talked (as usual) –
made beds – mended quite a bit – wrote
to Edna Conant & in here & N. Dean –
Emb’d [?] & read until 12 – Solitaire & read
until about 3 P.M. & then had a nap
as it had begun to snow at 12 & was
too deep for any skating & horrid
walking – Dressed about 5 & read
until six & inlre [?] in “Herald” & Jane
Austen’s “Persuasion” – quite good –
wholly a love story – up to bed about
10 but read more & had a game of
solitaire & it was 11-20 when I got
into bed. Had stopped snowing then
Clothes not drying – had to hang ’em
in the house. Papa took them in for M

numbers are most likely different now).

Our diarist is none other than Nina Louise Winn (April 8, 1877 –
1958), daughter of George Prentiss and Melissa Sarah (Bacon) Winn.
George Prentiss Winn was the older brother of Susanna Adams Winn. In
the 1900 US Federal Census, Nina was living with her father and
brother George Albert Winn (1873-1942) at 146 Mystic Street in
Arlington.

Math Pathways Task Force Update today at 3:30 PM.

At the Curriculum, Instruction, Accountability, and Assessment Subcommittee Meeting today Math and the Superintendent evaluation are on the agenda.
