This past week I gave a friend a whirlwind tour of LA. Thanks to , we dodged traffic and made the most of our day (we started pretty late at around noon). We hit Roscoe's and Randy's Donuts in Inglewood via the C & K lines, followed by Santa Monica and the pier via the K & E lines. Runyon Canyon Park in Hollywood was next via the E & B lines. After dark, we headed to in Koreatown for KBBQ and took the D, A, and C lines home. The cherry on top was our seriously awesome A line operator who put out a trash fire with his water bottle before LAFD could even get there. LA's transit system is truly on the rise and I hope more people start to appreciate its value.

Always happy to not sit in DTLA traffic. Thanks !

*Nature documentary voice* Here we can see the majestic resting at the Santa Fe depot in San Diego... In my opinion it is easily one of the best ways to travel regionally in Southern California.

Also pictured is the Sprinter. What struck me about it is just how comfortable the ride was. It's a cute little train for sure.

I was fortunate to spend this past weekend in San Diego with my wife visiting my friends of and of . We got together to watch the extended versions of the Lord of the Rings movies in theaters. I've never seen them in theaters, let alone the extended editions so it was a lot of fun for me.

They showed us a bit of the area in our free time, which was sadly a little limited with each film being around four hours long 😳

Of course I had to check out and grab a cannoli. I'm probably way too excited to be able to grab a good cannoli on the west coast. BTW if you have a recommendation for cannolis in LA please let me know 😅

The attention to detail of the little touches within the district were nice to see and I enjoyed the subtle placemaking and wayfinding signage scattered about.

I really enjoyed the Trolley and the 215 Rapid line which even had some dedicated right of way. Their modern light rail fleet is all built by and were honestly pretty nice rides. The seating config on the train with the table was cool for our group, but was awkward to get in and out of. I will also say that the fare boxes did take me a moment to notice as they're pretty nondescript. Overall, it was a great experience though.

I do have to ask, is that a slide on the lifeguard tower?

There's something about an articulated bus that I just love and this looked great underneath the big blue sky we had here the other day in LA. Sadly, it's been a little smoggier since 🫤

I think this is a Nabi 60 BRT, feel free to correct me in the comments as I'm not as savvy with buses. Anyway, it's really striking to me how in the same space as three SUVs we can fit a vehicle that can comfortably fit 50+ people.

Hopefully someday we'll shift more towards mass transit. I enjoy it when I can walk outside and see the mountains in the distance because there's no built-up smog. Here's to hoping. ☁️💙☀️

A P2000 I spotted at the depot next door to the new LAX/Metro Transit Center.

It was a nice little surprise for me while riding the C-line, formerly the green line, from Norwalk to see my wife off at LAX.

IMO, this experience is so much better than dealing with the 105 and the headache of the horseshoe at LAX. And even better it's only $1.75 a person to ride!

I really enjoy the little things. These new buttons from are 🔥I ❤️ 🚍🚉

I had a fun outing with my friend Jeff from . We grabbed lunch at Grand Central Market in DTLA and then headed to Mariachi Plaza for ice cream at J&F. The strawberry smoothie and cookies & cream ice cream were both fantastic. The C-line freeway stations might not be my favorite, but the views of DTLA and the mountains are pretty great at least.

I had the pleasure of playing tour guide for my in-laws over the holidays during their visit to LA. We took public transit for most of our trips to save on parking, gas, and frustration, which added up to well over $150 in savings throughout the course of the weekend. Not having to drive and find parking definitely saved us time too, which means we were able to see more of the sights!

Big thanks to for getting us around hassle free. 💙🚉🚌🚆🚇🌇
