Sooo this isn't surprising. Zillow is trying to fit a "one-click" amazon-like experience into the home selling process and that is just crazy. Even in a seller's market, every home is unique and every home owners financial situation is different. In order to represent a seller's best interests you really have to get in the home, walk around, TALK and LISTEN to the seller's needs and analyze the specific market and their specific neighborhood. To even think that you can take the most important financial decision most homeowners will face and turn it into a one stop shop is absurd. A good agent puts the "real" into real estate and being real is understanding your clients needs and requirements and using your expertise in the market to put a plan into place to accomplish it in the best way possible. Home sellers are not cogs in an assembly line. They are people and they need good representation! If you would like to talk one on one with me to see how I could help make your real estate goals "real", please reach out to me [email protected].
Zillow's CEO Rich Barton built a huge site for real estate listings. But now he's shifting the company into a far riskier business, buying and selling homes.
