I met a new horse friend today! Excited to be accepted as a volunteer twice a month with this awesome organization. It was very therapeutic getting to meet the horses and spend time petting them and learning about the mission of this organization. I haven't pet a horse since I was a kid! Such beautiful animals!!

Feeling the Zen at Asheville Community Yoga..a nonprofit yoga sanctuary a few minutes from the house. The heated floors, music and atmosphere was the perfect gift to myself for the day. It is a spa like atmosphere from start to finish! I'll definitely be back!

You never know what you will find sitting next to a dumpster or curb in Asheville..Before and After! Found this beauty sitting next to a dumpster all sad. Took it home and fixed the whole thing...now it is as good as new! Cost $6 in hot glue to fix and $2 for new light bulbs. It even has a dimmer on it so I can change the mood!

Fourteen downtown businesses have been awarded grants to support “pivoting” their business model. In 2021, the Friends of Downtown were one of 30 downtown districts across North Carolina to receive a $25,000 grant from Duke Energy’s Hometown Revitalization grant program.

Pivot Fund Grants were awarded to:

Black Bear Coffee Co. – updating outdoor dining furniture
The 2nd Act - Coffee, Wine & Craft Beer Bar- installing outdoor dining furniture
Wag! A Unique Pet Boutique– New website for e-commerce to allow for curbside pickup or delivery
Dish-Girl– purchasing equipment to improve live social media sales
The Brandy Bar + Cocktails – diversifying revenue with merchandise, updating website
Oklawaha Brewing Company – expanding outdoors with a patio in loading zone
Aquarium & Shark Lab by Team ECCO – diversifying programming by expanding educational offerings and upgrading technology
Safelight - hope and healing for families & Dandelion- improving store displays and updating sidewalk dining at Dandelion Cafe
Southern Appalachian Brewery– enclosing and heating outdoor seating area
Moe's Original Bar B Que- Hendersonville, NC – upgrading outdoor dining furniture and creating systems to maintain the cleanliness of sidewalk dining area
D9 Brewing Hendersonville – purchasing outdoor space heaters for use in sidewalk dining
Emma's Baby Boutique - diversifying revenue by purchasing a laser engraver to make custom pieces for customers
The Poe House – updating outdoor dining furniture and heaters
The Kingmaker's Draft – diversifying revenue by adding a retail section, improved marketing, and increased food menu
