Home Inspections are an important part of the buying process. Even on a newly built home! This front deck railing is on a new build. Improperly fastened railings are dangerous and a big cause for concern.

Per NC General Statutes and Administrative code:
Rail posts shall be attached with 2 3/8" galvanized bolts with nut and washer to outer bands.
Top rail shall support 200lbs.

The posts on these railings are attached with gun driven nails which pose a safety concern and are not in compliance with NC residential building code.

Please be careful around your outlets when painting!

Paint may prevent a full electrical contact between the plug and outlet. When it gets into the slots of the outlet, when a lamp or appliance is plugged into the outlet, the prongs may not make full metal contact inside of the outlet. If this happens, heat builds up, and increases the risk of a fire.
