It's not a secret anymore......
Two years in a row, Asheville has ranked in the top three best cities in the South. This year, Southern Living put it at number three, right behind Charleston and Savannah, based on more than 17,000 reader votes.
I've lived and worked in this area long enough to know it's not a fluke. It's Biltmore Estate anchoring the whole region's identity. It's the Blue Ridge Mountains and trails that start practically at your back door. It's a craft beer and food scene that's earned national attention on its own. And it's an arts community that gives this city a personality you can't manufacture.
Travel + Leisure agreed too, naming Asheville one of the 50 best places to travel in the world this year.
What strikes me most is that this recognition kept coming even while parts of the area are still recovering from Hurricane Helene. That says something. This isn't a city coasting on an old reputation. It's a city whose appeal has held up through real hardship.
If you want to actually understand what makes this area special, beyond a ranking, comment 'Asheville' and I'll send you our full guide to the area.
