This week, I celebrate 9 years of being a real estate professional in Asheville, NC. What started as an invitation to a way to support my family as we grew another business, has become something much more.
I’ve learned more about myself in these 9 years than I could have ever imagined. Working in real estate is not for the faint of heart. It’s not the process that’s hard (because if you’re at all decent at what you do, you have a system for your clients and their sales.)
It’s the working with alllllll types of people that’s hard.
It’s the reflection of yourself back to you in your clients’ eyes that’s the real job.
It’s the learning how to listen more, ask more questions, get more details, gain more trust, lean into your own intuition and reminding your clients that they can do the same.
It’s finding partners that communicate well and show up to support your clients the way you do.
It’s been 9 years of learning how to set boundaries (and then allowing others to cross those boundaries so you have to set them all over again and again), setting realistic expectations for how much a single person can do in a day, and remembering to find fun in all of it.
Do I love real estate? Honestly - no.
Is that weird to say as a real estate agent? Probably. And yet, it’s my truth.
The joy in my job is going on the journey with people and then becoming a part of this amazing moment in their lives. Celebrating their wins! Helping them create opportunities where they didn’t see it before. And nurturing relationships beyond the transaction that turn into real friendships.
Here’s to 9 years! Thank you to all who’ve believed in my work, trusted me, became repeat clients, and supported me by sending your friends and family my way. I wouldn’t be doing this work without you.
xoxo,
JB
