March 2026 Market Update: Buncombe County 🌼

· 21 Days on the Market
· Average Sales Price of $628,558

Buncombe added 169 more new listings to the market than it took off (put under contract), which increased the overall supply. The total number of active listings increased 14% compared to March, 50% of homes went under contract in 21-days or less, and at this rate there’s about 4.35-months of inventory to go around.

Total active listings increased by 14% in March (this is the number of properties listed for sale at any point during the month), and total homes under contract increased 18% from last month (this includes homes that were already under contract as well as those that went under contract during the month).

Earnest money is a deposit you submit with your offer to show a seller you’re serious about moving forward. It’s held in escrow and later applied toward your purchase at closing. If the contract is terminated under agreed-upon terms, that deposit is typically returned to you.
