Saturday was the SECCC Cyclocross Collegiate Championships at Clemson University. Allison and Sarah took a 1, 2, respectively in the Women's A field. Zach Valdez finished strong with a sixth place finish while Josh, Spencer, Ray and Regis finished closely together to wrap up the championships. Yesterday we took a small crew to the 9th NCCX race in Statesville. The day started off with Alex's best race yet in the cat 4/5 field. Regis also had a strong race finishing 12th in a stacked 86 4/5 man field. Walker Shaw was leading the cat 3 field until an unfortunate mechanical forced him to abandon the race. However, Trevor finished strong with a second in the 3 field. Sarah had a fantastic race with a 6th place finish in the Pro women's field. Spencer and Coach Brad finished the day off with the Pro Mens race. Brad attacked on the last lap securing a 2nd spot on the podium. Spencer had a great race finishing amongst the field.

While we never recommend hiking off trail, in some places it is even illegal to do so. Not only can it be dangerous to go off trail on some hikes, in some areas it can be detrimental to the plant life. The Craggy Pinnacle trail (MP 364) has many endangered plants that are found only in these rocky outcroppings and hiking off trail easily damages these inconspicuous plants. Please pay attention to and follow the signs posted at trail heads and along all trails on the Parkway! These overlook walls are built for a reason. Help us protect you and these special plants! ~CP
