I still remember the first clients I ever helped. My fiancé and I had just gone through real estate school together and were working for different companies. I was two hours into helping my clients when my cell phone began to ring. Naturally, I ignored the call; she called again. She called again and I excused myself to take the call. She had just dropped her daughter’s friend (who spent the night

) off at her house and made the mistake of asking the girl for directions back home. This girl lived a long way from anywhere that could remotely be called civilization. Armed with a poor sense of direction herself, my fiancé wound up in the middle of nowhere with no GPS and no gas. Almost dead empty. Later she would tell me they had filmed horror movies in the location she now found herself in. Scared and crying, she called for help. As nowhere is an immense area and she couldn’t tell me even remotely where she was, I was of no help. She wanted me to call out the National Guard, but I assured her it was a bit early for that. So…she drove until she saw a house with flowers on the outside. Assuming the flowers meant a woman lived there and not an ax murderer, she decided to stop. A very nice man opened the door and helped her find her way home. Since then, I have come to find out that’s what a good agent does; they provide good direction. Since graduating the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in the mid 90’s, that’s what I’ve done. I spent 14 years honing sales, negotiating, and management skills in the automobile industry before starting a career in real estate. It was a great transition and I absolutely love negotiating for clients, rather than against them like in the automotive industry. I have three kids, my fiancé has three kids, and I often contemplate whether my house is big enough. I love to fly, play guitar, and cook. So if we’re working together and my phone’s vibrating incessantly, I may need to take the call. But you can still expect great service and direction from an agent that loves what he does. Every client is an opportunity to learn and someone new to meet. I look forward to meeting you soon!
