TIME SAVING TIPS BEFORE THE MOVERS ARRIVE
One of our goals here at Economy Movers/Bekins is to make your move as comfortable and safe as possible. With that being said we would like to share our experience with you as we have moved thousands of families each and every year.
1. If you are packing your household items yourself, make sure all of your boxes have tops and are taped shut with plastic tape. Also, please label your boxes as to which room they will be going into at your new home.
2. Pack your dishes vertical.
3. On local moves, you can leave clothes only in your dresser drawers. We ask that you remove all other content (liquids, fragile items, items worth value) as we may have to stand your dresser(s) on end to get them out of the bedroom(s).
4. Desk drawers should be emptied and boxed (packed)
5. Please have ALL electronic equipment disconnected from other electronics and packed. TV’s do not need to be packed; we will blanket wrap them on the day of the move.
6. Glass items, lampshades, pictures and other small fragile items should be packed or taken in your car. If we take these items unpacked, it takes us extra time to load, and we are not responsible for any damages that may occur.
7. Have all appliances disconnected and ready to go (emptied of any contents inside). We can disconnect appliances if needed, but it does take a little bit of extra time to do so. We DO NOT disconnect gas appliances.
i. Washing Machine- Shut off water supply and remove hoses. Place the hoses inside of your washer drum, unplug and wrap up cord.
ii. Dryer- Remove exhaust hose and place inside your dryer. Unplug and wrap up cord.
iii. Range- Unplug and wrap up cord.
iv. Refrigerators- Empty contents, empty drip pan underneath your unit, unplug and wrap up cord. On models that have ice makers, be sure to find the cutoff valve and disconnect the hose.
v. Freezers- Empty contents, unplug and wrap cord.
8. If you live in an apartment complex, let your manager know your moving date to reserve a parking spot for the moving truck. If unable to reserve a parking spot, then please park your car closet to the door to the entrance so that it can moved when we arrive and take that spot.
9. If you live in a residential home, be sure to have your car(s), clear of your driveway and parked on the same side of your home, and not across the street from your home. Also, please be sure to have your driveway; sidewalk and porch steps cleared of debris; snow, leaves, dirt and anything that may be in the way.
10. If you have small children or pets, please make arrangements to have them stay at a family/friends or relatives house on your moving day.
11. Some items may need to be disassemble such as: Bunk Beds, Jungle gyms, Bed frames, tables, etc. If you were to take them apart yourself it would save time and money on your moving day. Any items that WE take apart WE will put back together at your request.
12. Plants and large plant pots should be taken in your car. If we take them, we can not responsible to any damages that might occur. Please place your small plants in small boxes, it is ok to leave the box tops opened.
13. Gas cans and any other flammable items are ILLEGAL for us to haul in our trucks. Please take these items with you in your vehicle or dispose of them.
These are some of the easiest ways to save time and money on your moving day. But please contact us at 920-339-1120 if you have questions as some of things listed, we may be able to help with.
