🏡 “I’m waiting for interest rates to come back down.”

I hear this ALL the time.

And I get it. After seeing mortgage rates in the 2–3% range just a few years ago, today’s rates feel high.

But sometimes we need to zoom out. 👀

Take a look at 55 years of mortgage rates.

In 1981, the average 30-year mortgage rate was 16.63%. 😳

In 2021? 2.96%.

That 2–3% period wasn’t normal—it was an extraordinary moment in mortgage history. And I think those few years changed our perception of what a “normal” interest rate looks like.

Today’s rates aren’t historically outrageous. They’re much closer to what borrowers have experienced over the long term.

Does the interest rate matter? Absolutely.
Does affordability matter? Absolutely.

But I wouldn’t put my life on hold indefinitely waiting for 3% rates to return.

If you find the right home, the payment fits comfortably into your budget, and buying makes sense for your family—that’s worth a conversation.

Because rates can change. You may have an opportunity to refinance later.

But you can’t go back in time and buy the house you passed on. 🏡

Sometimes a little historical perspective changes the conversation.

📊 55 years tells a much different story than the last 5.
