While the building changes hands, its legacy lives on. This transition makes possible a lasting investment in The Red & Black’s future, helping create opportunity for generations of student journalists to come.

Briarcliff continues to take shape!

We’re excited to announce that Mirin Fusion Kitchen is coming soon to our Briarcliff property on West Broad Street in Athens.

With a menu inspired by flavors from across Asia - from ramen and hibachi to creative fusion dishes and more, Mirin is bringing something fresh to the neighborhood.

As we continue to thoughtfully grow this development, Mirin will join Paris Baguette and Made Four Lagree as part of a growing collection of businesses bringing new energy, experiences, and opportunities to the area.

Meet Sean — the behind-the-scenes problem solver keeping Polias moving.

As our Systems Analyst, Sean provides vital support across special projects, IT, data, AI, and accounting operations. Whether he’s managing day-to-day logistics, helping track deposits, or supporting financial coordination, Sean helps keep the many moving parts of Polias running smoothly.

Originally from Watkinsville, Sean is a University of Georgia graduate and even spent time abroad studying in Japan. His mix of technical expertise, curiosity, and problem-solving makes him an important part of the Polias team!

As this landmark enters its next season, we’re committed to honoring its legacy while thoughtfully imagining what comes next.

At Polias, we believe great places have stories worth preserving. Our role is to steward them with care, creating spaces that serve people today while respecting the history that came before.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make today’s closing possible, and we’re excited to share more as the vision for this property unfolds!

Since 2002, the Baxter Street building has served as a newsroom, classroom and gathering place for generations of student journalists. While the organization will say goodbye to a space filled with memories, the sale represents an important step toward ensuring The Red & Black remains financially strong and mission-focused. We are honored to be a small part of their mission.

“Polias, an Athens-based developer focused on transformative placemaking, helped The Red & Black through this transition with the purchase of their building and the securing of a newsroom headquarters in the Bottleworks development near the West End of downtown Athens.”

Meet Emily Logan, the friendly face who helps make our community thrive.

A Southern girl at heart, Emily brings her passion for hospitality and love of serving others to her role as Community Manager at Runway Cowork. Her attention to detail and commitment to creating a welcoming environment help ensure that our community has everything they need to feel supported and set up for success.

Emily loves being part of the Polias team and helping bring its mission to life through meaningful connections and exceptional hospitality.

When she’s not at Runway, you can find Emily spending time in the mountains with a fresh Flat White in hand, or enjoying a good book and tending to her garden at home.

Fun fact: Emily was on the field with the Greek Olympic Team during the 1996 Olympics Closing Ceremonies! 🏅Give her some love!

Meet Adam Taylor: the heart behind our properties.

Originally from the Midwest, Adam is proud to now call Athens home. As Facilities Manager, he oversees all of our Polias properties, helping ensure they’re welcoming, well-maintained, and ready to serve both our tenants and the community.

Adam is passionate about family and community, which makes being part of the Polias team a natural fit. He enjoys building relationships with our tenants and takes pride in helping create spaces where local businesses can thrive. He is such a huge part of the Polias mission!

When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find Adam spending time with his family, watching movies, trying out new restaurants around Athens, or planning his next adventure.

Fun fact: Adam was a member of the 1999 Oconee County High School football team. 🏈 Give him some love!
