Wow ! Piedmont park like you’ve never seen it !
We spend so much time in this beautiful park. I can only imagine what it was like attending the Cotton Expostion of 1895. Today, none of the grand and elaborate buildings still stand but there are granite stairs and flower pots still around the active oval. 💯🌈💥❤️
Atlanta hosted three Cotton Expositions in the 1800s, but the one that took place on this day in 1895 was the most famous. The exhibits, which took place in present-day Piedmont Park, showcased products and the latest technology to promote trade between southern states and South American countries. The Liberty Bell and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show made guest appearances. However, the most significant moments were Booker T. Washington's "Atlanta Compromise" speech and President Grover Cleveland's arrival on President's Day. Browse through these photos and more from the Fred L.
