Meet Katherine “Katya” Vazhenin from Lawrenceville, Georgia! 🇺🇸🏊‍♀️

A proud member of the Dynamo Masters Swim Club, Katya is a distance freestyle and butterfly specialist and has been a member of the USA Down Syndrome Swimming National Team since 2018.

Katya’s incredible accomplishments include:
🏅 24 Open Water World Cup gold medals and 4 World Championship gold medals
🏅 8 Masters National, Pan American & European Championship winning titles
🏅 3 gold medals at the 2021 US & Russian Paralympic National Championships
🏅 Virtus World & Championship 5 podium medals
🏅 DSISO World, European & Pan-American 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 with 2 Gold, 7 Silver and 10 Bronze medals.
🏆 22 DSISO World Junior & Senior records from 2018–2026

Outside of swimming, Katya enjoys singing, dancing, playing piano, rhythmic gymnastics, cheerleading and diving. Her passion, versatility and dedication continue to make her an incredible member of Team USA! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
