Property Taxes! According to the National Association of Home Builders, the national effective property tax rate in 2024 was 0.89%, or $8.88 per $1,000 of home value.

New Jersey and Illinois have the highest tax rates (1.88/$1000 value) while Hawaii and Alabama (0.29 and 0.37/$1000 value) have the lowest tax rates.

Property tax bills will be out around August in the Metro Atlanta Area.
