A stalled Georgia bill could automatically return unclaimed property to residents, tapping into $3.3 billion in funds. Under SB 403, the Department of Revenue would compare tax and unclaimed property records and automatically issue checks for amounts under $500, rather than waiting for residents to file claims. Those owed $500 or more would still need to file manually.
