This morning’s GODSMACK: Would you recognize Jesus if He were sitting right beside you—or would you be too busy explaining what He’s supposed to look like?

Knowing about God is not the same as knowing God.

The religious leaders knew Scripture. They could quote it, teach it, debate it, and probably dominate Bible trivia night.

Yet Jesus was standing right in front of them—and they missed Him.

Not because He was hiding.

Because they were so sure they already knew what God would look like, sound like, and do that they couldn’t recognize Him when He showed up.

Ouch. That one has my name on it.

Am I actually walking with God—or just collecting information about Him?

Because knowing the right answers does not automatically mean I’m surrendered.

I can have the Bible app, the highlighted verses, the worship playlist, and the “I 🖤 My Church” T-shirt—and still ignore God when He interrupts my plans.

God didn’t suddenly show up.

I just stopped paying attention.

Paul prayed for believers to have the eyes of their hearts opened so they could truly know God. Not just know facts. Not just know church language. Know Him.

And today, that’s my prayer too.

Lord, make me aware of You.

Open my eyes to where You’re working—even when it doesn’t look the way I expected.

Teach me to listen before I react.

Let what I know about You change how I live, how I speak, how I love, and how I respond when nobody else is impressed.

Because I don’t want to know all the answers and still miss Jesus sitting right beside me.

That would be the biggest Bible study fail of all. 🤍

Well… this was certainly not your average dinner at the Westrick house! 🍷🍽️

We won a Chef-Prepared Dinner at the Make-A-Wish auction, and let me just say it was absolutely incredible!

Chef Mikey, Chef Mike, Pastry Chef Tim, and our host Jared from Prime 120 in Woodstock came into our kitchen and prepared one of the finest meals we have ever eaten. Oysters, Hamachi crudo, scallops, A-5 Wagyu, and cognac toffee cake. Yes, it was every bit as fabulous as it sounds! 😋

And as if that wasn’t enough, Todd from ’s Fine W**e and Crafts in Ball Ground handpicked the perfect w**e to pair with each course. 🍷

An amazing meal. Some of our favorite people gathered around our table. And the best part—it all began by supporting the wonderful mission of -A-Wish Georgia. 💙

Definitely a night we will be talking about for a very long time. Our kitchen may never feel quite the same again! 😂

THE DIARY OF A CANDIDATE’S WIFE Entry Two: Meet the Man, Not the Commentary ☕️

David has started holding community meet and greets. A chance for people who don’t know him to ask questions, share their concerns, and hear directly from him.
And for David to listen because he does that. He really listens. I love this part of the campaign.

What I don’t love is seeing people form an entire opinion of him based on social media, hearsay, or what somebody else said without ever having one conversation with him. 🤨

Apparently, Facebook can now tell you everything you need to know about a person you’ve never actually met. Who knew? 🙄

I’ll be honest. As his wife, it’s hard.

I know his heart. I know how he thinks. I know he is willing to hear someone’s concerns even when their opinion is different from his.

And sometimes I want to jump into the comments and defend him. Talking about HARD‼️(If you know me personally you definitely know)
But I’m learning that Facebook debates rarely change hearts or minds. Shocking, I know. 😂

So here is my invitation to you, the community.

Come meet David yourself.

Ask the hard questions. Tell him what concerns you. Listen to his answers and notice how he listens to you.

Please don’t even take my word for it. I’m his wife. I may be just a little bit biased. 🤷‍♀️You may meet him and still disagree with him. That’s okay. Listening doesn’t always mean agreeing. It means respecting someone enough to understand where they are coming from.

David thinks for himself. I encourage you to do the same.

If you’re going to have an opinion and let’s face it, we all do but please make sure it’s ACTUALLY YOURS.

Are there other candidates who care? Of course. But I’m David’s wife, not theirs, and this is my diary. Besides, one campaign candidate in this house is plenty. LOL!
