Who would’ve thought an intern helped name one of Atlanta’s biggest redevelopments?

While researching the former North DeKalb Mall site, a letter from the 1890s was found which was written by Frederick Law Olmsted to Joel Hurt, the developer of Druid Hills.

Then came with a list of alternative names for Druid Hills.

One of them was “Lulah Hills.”

For Herbert Ames Herbert Ames , Managing Director at EDENS, the team kept coming back to it, and in a branding meeting, it clicked.

A name that could have been buried in history became the identity for one of Atlanta’s most talked-about redevelopments.

From an indoor theme park with the world’s longest freestanding escalator to the iconic global headquarters of CNN, Downtown Atlanta’s Downtown Atlanta CNN Center has continuously evolved alongside the city itself.

Built in 1976 as the Omni International Complex, the site transformed over decades into a media centerpiece before recently undergoing a $15 million upgrade to become “The CTR” The CTR Atlanta —a modernized mixed-use destination featuring 920,000 square feet of office space, 230,000 square feet of retail, a new dining hall, and Georgia’s largest bar.

Today, as new life is breathed into the multi-level landmark, it enters its next chapter as a vibrant hub for work, dining, and community in the heart of Atlanta.

Affordable housing isn’t just about building more homes.

Bank of America Plaza Bank of America Plaza Atlanta , Atlanta’s tallest building, is undergoing a $15 million hospitality overhaul by CP Group to transform its F&B and social spaces for tenants and the Midtown community.

The 55-story landmark tower will welcome national firm Episcope Hospitality Episcope Hospitality to operate three new concepts spanning 18,000 square feet, including a 37th-floor skyline tenant club, a modern restaurant called “West Wing,” and a gourmet market.

Marking the second phase of $70 million in total capital improvements, this latest investment aims to solidify the tower as a top-flight workplace destination.

HAL’S “THE STEAKHOUSE” TO OPEN A SECOND ATLANTA LOCATION IN MIDTOWN

An Atlanta dining staple since 1989, Hal’s The Steakhouse is expanding with a second local destination set to open in Midtown’s Spring Quarter development in early 2028.

The iconic steakhouse will bring its signature New Orleans-inspired charm into the historic 24,000-square-foot Patterson House, a landmark originally designed in 1928 by renowned architect Philip T. Shutze.

With designs led by María Domínguez of Maison Malueé and Walix Corporation, the project will repurpose the former H.M. Patterson & Son’s funeral home while preserving its rich architectural legacy.
