Spent part of today celebrating America's 250th right here on the Crystal Coast at the America250 Carteret County Celebration in Morehead City.

The boys had an absolute blast painting boats, trying out colonial-era games, and checking out the voting machine exhibit. It's not every day you get to mix hands-on history with family fun.

One of my favorite things about living here is that events like this make history feel real. Carteret County played a role in our nation's Revolutionary War story, and today was a reminder that those stories are still being shared with the next generation.

If you missed it, the colonial reenactors, games, exhibits, and family activities definitely did not disappoint. Happening until 6pm today!

On my way to get a listing ready for tomorrow's showing, I made my usual stop at Memorial Park Beach Access... only to find it closed.

So I kept heading west and ended up at the Salter Path public beach access.

If you're not familiar with the flag system, a red flag means dangerous ocean conditions due to strong surf and rip currents. Beautiful to watch. Not a day to ignore the warnings.

That said, the live oak canopy, beach walkover, and surprisingly shady parking spot reminded me why this is one of my favorite accesses on the island.
