The Real Brokerage + RE/MAX — This is the newest big one. Real agreed to acquire RE/MAX in a transaction valued at about $880 million including debt. Shareholders approved it August 14, court approval has been received, and the companies said they expected it to close today, August 24. The parent will be called Real REMAX Group, while the Real and RE/MAX brands are expected to remain distinct.
eXp Realty + NextHome — eXp's parent acquired NextHome in May 2026. This one's especially interesting because eXp was built around the cloud-brokerage model, while NextHome brings 500+ traditional franchisees. The parent company subsequently changed its corporate name to AGNT, Inc.
Rocket Companies + Redfin — Rocket completed its acquisition of Redfin in July 2025. That's not exactly two traditional franchises merging, but it's important: one of America's biggest mortgage companies now owns a major national brokerage and home-search portal. Rocket then acquired Mr. Cooper for $14.2 billion, creating an enormous mortgage/real-estate/servicing ecosystem.
Keller Williams hasn't merged with another national franchise, but Stone Point Capital took a significant investment stake in KW in 2025. That's worth watching because Stone Point has extensive holdings and investments throughout the real-estate-services industry.
And then there's the monster combination we were just discussing: Compass + Anywhere. That puts Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Corcoran and Sotheby's International Realty in the same overall organization as Compass and Christie's International Real Estate. The combination closed January 9, 2026.
