🍦 It’s officially ice cream season in Placer County… and I have personally sacrificed my blood sugar and macros in the name of research. You’re welcome.
If you’re looking for the best ice cream spots in Placer County and the surrounding foothill communities, here are a few local favorites worth a stop this summer:
📍 Coco’s Candy & Creamery | Colfax
A new location with the same delicious ice cream and candy selection right on Main Street. One of my favorite small-town stops when I’m in Colfax.
📍 Lazy Dog Chocolateria | Grass Valley
Many people know them for their incredible chocolates and truffles, but don’t sleep on the ice cream. A chocolate-dipped vanilla cone on a hot summer day is hard to beat, and they always have unique flavors for adventurous ice cream lovers.
📍 Yeti Tavern | Auburn
One of those hidden gems you could easily walk right past. My husband and I love stopping in whenever we’re downtown. Grab a scoop, then head upstairs for pinball and arcade games—a perfect summer date night.
📍 Taylor’s | Loomis
Taylor’s may be famous for burgers, but their milkshake and ice cream menu is legendary, with more than 100 flavor combinations. It’s a local favorite and a must-stop summer treat spot.
📍 Gunther’s | Sacramento
Yes, it’s a bit of a drive, but this historic Sacramento institution has earned its reputation. If you make the trip, do yourself a favor and order the Neapolitan Banana Split—it’s a it’s on the menu for a reason!
❤️ Save this post for your next “What should we do tonight?” moment.
And if you’re thinking about moving to Placer or Nevada County, or the surrounding communities, this is just a small glimpse of what local life looks like around here.
