Exactly correct!

Massachusetts isn’t loud about it either… but give it five minutes and you’ll hit at least three names that make you go “wait… say that again?” 😅☕

Drive across the state and suddenly you’re not just navigating roads—you’re decoding pronunciations like it’s a full-time job.

You’ve got:
• Worcester (if you said it how it’s spelled… absolutely not 😭)
• Gloucester (same rules, different confusion)
• Leominster (looks intense… sounds completely different)
• Peabody (not “pee-body”… don’t do that)

But Massachusetts doesn’t stop there.

You’ve also got:
• Billerica (you’ll hear three versions, none agreed upon)
• Haverhill (drop some letters, keep the confidence)
• Scituate (just commit and hope for the best)
• Chicopee (surprisingly straightforward… for once)

And somewhere along the drive—
you stop trying to sound it out…
and just start trusting the locals.

Because in Massachusetts…
it’s not about being weird—
it’s about saying less letters than exist and acting like that’s completely normal.

Historic streets, coastal towns, confusing names…
and somehow everyone just understands anyway. 😌
