I have a question about air traffic controllers. Since they are not getting paychecks because of the shutdown, I assume they are federal employees. Why are they not employees of the airports where they work? Why would they not be paid by the airports who should then charge airlines based on their airport traffic?

Between softball, baseball, and batting practice sessions, our city rec complex of fields are scheduled for 17 events today. 17. I remember 25 years ago when the idea of building a youth rec complex was proposed, there were the usual "anti-everythings" who said, "our two ball fields out at the high school are adequate". And i don't even remember what we did for soccer kids back then. Thank God, our city leaders had the foresight, commitment, and financial investment to build this amazing facility.

I would like to commend our chamber board members, Leslie, and our small business community for their commitment and promotion of our retail businesses this holiday season. I think Leslie has done a great job to bolster our businesses to help them grow and prosper this holiday season. Many of us in banking, insurance, real estate, accounting and other service-related businesses do not directly benefit from this retail push, but I think all of us recognize the value of having a vibrant retail mix which makes our community stronger. Thank you chamber members, chamber board, Leslie, and our retailers for making Auburn a great place to live and raise our families. Oh yea, one more thing. May God be with us all, as we celebrate the birth or our Savior.
