Our Story
I have been a real estate agent since 2003. In 2011 I became a real estate Broker. Prior to that, I was an outside sales representative selling supplies to interior designers; Fabrics, wall coverings, area rugs, etc. I was traveling all over Northern California and Northern Nevada. I got tired of the traveling and of being away from home and husband, so decided on a different sales career, real estate. I started my career at a small start up firm. It was the perfect atmosphere for a new agent. I was one of the first agents hired at the firm, so I got a great deal of one on one training directly from my broker. This gave me a great jump start. In 2006 I came to Windermere Real Estate, to work in my town, Auburn. I have since managed successful real estate offices in the Auburn area. In 2017, along with my business partner, Therese Beechler, opened our own brokerage, J. Ellen Realty.
But who is J. Ellen? The name J. Ellen is a combination of their grandmother's names. Both of Amy's grandmother's are "J's". Julia was a self made business woman that opened a sandwich shop in the midst of the depression to help to provide for her family. And her other grandmother was a strong business woman that owned several stores that catered to the women of the time. Therese's grandmother was "Ellen". Ellen got her real estate license at 60 years old. She sold Bob Barkers home at one point. She loved the art of the deal. When toward the end of her life, Therese asked if there was any last thing that she might want to do, like maybe take a trip to the old country. Her reply: "Honey, I just want to do one more deal!" All of these women were hard working, loyal, and did business with a great deal of integrity.
Our tag line: Loyalty, Integrity, Perseverance.
These are not just qualities, they are our legacy.
