If you’ve ever closed with me, you’ve probably heard me say this:

Keep your mortgage discharge.

Is it legally required?

No.

But it’s a really good idea.

A mortgage discharge is proof that your mortgage was paid off. Most of the time, you’ll never need it.

But if a question comes up years later, you’ll be glad you have it.

And any listing agents who have had to deal with an improperly discharged mortgage can back me up here. ✌🏼

🏡 Broker Tour Recap

Broker Tour Day! 🏡

Great homes, great conversations, and even better collaboration.

Yesterday’s broker tour brought together agents from across the area to tour listings, share feedback, and talk about what we’re seeing in today’s market.

Recently, we had someone come forward claiming an interest in a property that had already changed hands.

The claim stemmed from a previous estate.

Now, was the claim valid?

Honestly, that wasn’t the point.

Whether a claim is valid or not, someone still has to defend it.

That’s exactly why owner’s title insurance exists.

Even after a title search, there can still be issues that don’t surface until after closing. Owner’s title insurance helps protect homeowners from issues that may not be discovered until after the transaction is complete.

This week our team joined friends from The Maine Mortgage Mom Team for a summer lobster bake at Young’s Lobster Pound, complete with a side dish and dessert cook-off.

There was plenty of laughter, a lot of lobster, and some seriously impressive entries. And in a result that surprised absolutely no one… Kyle took home the cook-off trophy. 🏆

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize such a fun afternoon. We love opportunities like this to step away from our desks, connect with our partners, and enjoy time together outside of the office.

Here’s to summer in Maine, good food, and even better company. 🦞☀️
