24 hours of no sleep 🫣 I definitely wasn’t awake for as long as the incredible Tevis riders, families, volunteers, veterinarians, and crews… 😴🐴 But Anna and I did manage to stay up all night so she could surprise her bestie at the finish line, and I’d do it all over again.
If you’ve never experienced the Tevis Cup, it’s one of the most legendary 100-mile endurance rides in the world, finishing right here in Auburn after an unforgettable journey through the Sierra. It’s not just about horses, it’s about grit, heart, perseverance, and an entire community showing up for one another.
As a mom, though, my favorite part wasn’t the finish line. It was watching my daughter cheer on a friend she loves so much.
I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships my girls have built and for the parents we’re lucky enough to do life alongside. Kind people raising kind kids. The kind of people who show up in the big moments and the ordinary ones.
That’s what I love about Auburn.
You can’t go anywhere without seeing someone you know. Last night, while picking Anna up from a movie, I ran into a local business owner I’ve known for over 20 years. That’s just life here.
It’s neighbors becoming lifelong friends. It’s people rallying around each other through celebrations and hardships. It’s waving from across a parking lot, lending a hand when someone needs it, and always finding familiar faces wherever you go.
Home isn’t just a place, it’s a community. And for our family, there’s nowhere we’d rather be. ❤️
