Good morning, Grovetown! We've got some updates as it pertains to services provided by the City and post-Helene cleanup.
First and foremost, we are happy to report that the City's bulk and yard waste pickup is back on schedule. Residents in the Blue Zone will see bulk pickup this week from Streets and Sanitation. Please note that pickup occurs Monday-Friday and residents must place their bulk waste curbside no later than 6:30AM on the first day of pickup for that week. For more info on bulk and yard waste, see the following link: https://cityofgrovetown.com/206/Garbage-Collection
Next, in regard to vegetative debris removal following Hurricane Helene, please be reminded that Ceres Environmental is still picking up tree debris all throughout Columbia County. The county has contracted them to do two sweeps across the entirety of Columbia County, which could take up to 90 days per sweep; we will notify the public when we are notified that the second sweep is about to begin. Ceres has not shared a specific route, but at this time, they are asking for all debris to be placed curbside, unbagged and out of the roadways, and they will come to pick it up as soon as possible. If you are in need of assistance cleaning fallen trees on your property, please call the Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 844-965-1386. This hotline is expected to close on Friday, Nov. 1st.
Lastly, please be reminded that the Grovetown Trails at Euchee Creek are closed until further notice, to include the parking lot. The trails suffered substantial damage during the storm and are not safe for visitation. Many have asked about volunteer efforts to get the trails back up and running, however, at this time, we will not be utilizing volunteers due to several safety concerns. We will be working to get the trails back in excellent condition as soon as possible, and appreciate your patience during this time.
As always, thank you all for your understanding! Should you ever have any questions, please feel free to shoot us a call at 706-863-4576, and please, have a wonderful week!
