🦅 The Voice of the Fox Valley Eagle: Where Will We Go Next? 🇺🇸
I am the Bald Eagle who once nested in Mooseheart—until the dead tree could not hold my 2,000 pound nest any longer. Now they want to build another QuikTrip gas station at Orchard Road and Sullivan in Aurora. And I wonder: where will we go next?
This proposed development is more than just a convenience store; it is the permanent, irreversible destruction of the land, threatening to erase the breathing room that sustains all life in West Aurora.
🦊🐕My coyote and fox cousins roam the fields looking for quiet places to raise their pups.
🦆The migrating geese use this intersection as safe landing grounds.
🦩The sandhill cranes—ancient as time—dance their slow, sacred dances in the wetlands that still remain.
Every fox, heron, possum, deer, monarch butterfly, and hidden root system is part of this living memory of the Fox Valley. But all of us are losing space. The concrete grows. The smog thickens. The noise never stops.
And we know this land holds older stories than yours or mine. This area has been a place of human habitation and reverence for centuries.
Before any construction continues, why has there been no comprehensive land survey or archaeological assessment? The historical significance of this land, possibly including the existence of sacred sites or burial grounds, should be evaluated before any earth-moving begins. Why is every living history—human, animal, and beyond—treated as disposable?
🚫We don’t need another gas station. The environmental cost, the risk to wildlife (especially the Mooseheart Eagle pair seeking new territory), and the neglect of local history are too great.
We need breathing room.
We need green space.
We need sanctuary.
For us.
And yes—for you, too.
