The Bats are back in Austin. Interesting experience for those visiting Austin to see one of the largest urban bat colonies in the world, estimated at almost 2 million bats. They are Mexican free-tailed bats, that will migrate back and forth each year from Mexico.

Funny story to share, when I first moved to Austin in 2004 we went to see bats in Round Rock I was terrified as my husbands family told me stories of some bats fall to the ground landing on your head and sometimes get stuck in long hair like mine. So there I was with a hoodie on covering my hair, plus an umbrella in 80 degree spring weather. They were laughing hysterically. 🤣🤪 All in good fun! 😉😁🤓

Look how fast Leander has been growing. I used to say it’s a great little town just outside of Austin, but I can’t say it’s so little anymore with the amount of growth it’s had over the last decade.

Leander Public Works Department has replaced all 12 population signs in the city – 81,806! In 2010, Leander’s population was 26,521, according to the U.S. Census, and the estimated population was 56,111 when the City updated the signs in 2017.
