One of my favorite things about West Austin? You don’t have to pick just one version of the Austin lifestyle.
A few things you have to compromise on here:
→ Top-rated schools. For so many of the families I work with, this is the big one. The schools are a huge reason people start looking in this area in the first place, and there are some really wonderful neighborhoods for families with kids.
→ Being close to the water. Lake Travis is such a big part of life out here. Whether you actually own a boat or just love knowing you can be at the lake for an afternoon, it makes weekends feel a little more like vacation.
→ Space and privacy. You can find bigger lots, quieter streets, beautiful views, and homes where you don’t feel quite so close to your neighbors. I love that you can get a little breathing room without feeling completely removed from everything.
→ Things to actually DO close to home. Golf, trails, marinas, pools, restaurants, shopping, coffee…it’s all here. I rarely feel like I have to head into Austin just to have things to do.
→ That Hill Country feeling. This is probably one of my favorite parts. The winding roads, limestone, mature trees and those Hill Country sunsets make even an ordinary drive home pretty special.
→ A real sense of community. Friday night football, neighborhood events, running into people you know around town…there’s a closeness here that I really love. Especially when you’re raising a family.
→ Access to Austin. I love the quieter pace here, but I also love that Austin is still right there when I want it. Dinner downtown, a concert, a music festival…you don’t have to give that part up.
That’s what I love most about West Austin. It doesn’t feel like choosing between city life, lake life, Hill Country life, or family life.
You get a little bit of all of it. 🤍
